Teaching the 2009 Mathematics SOL in Grades 3-5 Across Southern Virginia
This project was designed to improve content, pedagogy, and technology knowledge of grades 3-5 teachers and enable them to transform instructional practices to improve mathematical learning and develop mathematical thinking in all students including students with special needs. This Southern Virginia Math Science Partnership included Longwood University’s Mathematics Department, the Institute for Teaching through Technology and Innovative Practices (ITTIP) in South Boston, Southside Virginia Regional Technology Consortium (SVRTC) and the school divisions of Brunswick, Charlotte, Cumberland, Danville, Greensville, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Pittsylvania, Prince Edward, Prince George, Southampton, and Sussex. Three-day workshops were created for in-service teachers. The Powerpoint slides used in each workshop are shown below.
