New Student Checklist

There is much to get done, and we can help. Before you know it, it will be August and you will be arriving on campus as an official Longwood Lancer! Below you’ll find items that both students and families will need to take care of after depositing and prior to move-in day in August.

As you prepare for your college journey, make sure you check these boxes!

Studdents with Elwood

Longwood Live Mail

Check your Longwood email account regularly because it is the official means of communication between you and the university. If you are having difficulty signing into your email account, contact the Help Desk at (434) 395-4357 or help@longwood.edu.

Financial Aid

Accept or decline your financial aid awards through the mylongwood portal and learn about securing, monitoring and maintaining your financial aid.

Finances

Check your electronic billing statements. Bills are generated in early July and Fall bills are due in early August.

Housing

Housing preferences are submitted at Orientation in June, then your housing assignment is issued in mid-July. Check your live email account for your assignment and contact your roommate. Fun!

Meet your Peer Mentor

You'll have the opportunity to communicate with your peer mentor through the Canvas portal in early August.

Safety Notifications

Families can sign up for Longwood’s text and email alert system.

Know When You Move In!

Review your move-in time and helpful tips on the Residential and Commuter Life  and the "What Should I Bring" list.

Do you move in early? Students in the Cormier Honors College and the ARO Empowers program, as well as Dining Services staff and athletes, move in early. Contact your program coach, supervisor or employer for more information.
