Orientation is your first official event as a Lancer! Get ready to meet other new students and learn about campus offices and the services they provide. You'll also receive your class schedule!

Orientation Registration

You will register for Orientation online via instructions sent to your personal email account. The instructions will be sent within one week of the date that your Admissions deposit is received and processed.

When registering, we’ll ask you a series of questions that helps us build the right course schedule for you. This allows you to express your interests and assures that you are on track to graduate as you begin your education at Longwood. To prepare for this important step, please think about the following topics before you arrive. Remember there are no wrong answers—we just want to get to know you and your interests as fully as we can.

  • What have been your favorite and least favorite subjects you took in high school?
  • Do you have any career goals? They don’t have to be specific, but if you are planning on going into a certain field, or have a particular interest, please let us know.
  • We’ll also ask you to share your interests related to the general education courses that comprise the foundation of your degree. So be prepared to rank your preferred choice between, for example, World, British and American literature.
  • Are there any extenuating circumstances that may impact your course schedule, like a work schedules, if you are a commuter student, etc.?
  • Will you be a student athlete or participate in any musical ensembles?
  • We will ask about any college level course work you have completed, included college courses as part of dual enrollment program in High School, AP credit, or IB credit.

There is no up-front fee to attend Orientation; the cost is covered in the incoming student transitional fee of $225 and is billed to the student account. Students are invited to bring guests and must register them in advance of the Orientation program. There is no additional fee for guests
