The Primitive Technology Club
The Primitive Technology Club fosters awareness of technologies used in prehistory, and provides hands-on experience in the performance and use of such technologies.
Some of our crafts include cordage, basket weaving, fire making, hunting and trapping, flint-knapping and ceramics. Join us for our bi-monthly meetings, and our semester seminar weekend camp out. We practice some of the above trades and offer individualized projects; dying cordage, making atlatls and testing them, yucca sandals, bone needle making and open fire primitive cooking.
Prim Tech is open to all Longwood students regardless of major or skill level.
Lambda Alpha (Anthropology)
Lambda Alpha is the national Anthropological honors society that recognizes superiority, and provides an incentive for exceptional performance by granting certificates of accomplishment. Contact Dr. Doug Dalton for information.
Alpha Phi Sigma (Criminal Justice)
Alpha Phi Sigma is the only National Criminal Justice Honor Society for Criminal Justice Majors that recognizes the academic excellence of undergraduate and graduate students of criminal justice and juris doctorate candidates.
Eligibility:
- Minimum GPA of 3.2
- Minimum of three full-time semesters as a CRIM major or minor
Membership
Membership is for life, there is a one-time $50 national membership fee. We encourage you to review your eligibility status and if you believe you meet the eligibility criteria please contact Dr. Virginia Beard at beardvr@longwood.edu.

Lamda Alpha Epsilon (Criminal Justice)
Lamda Alpha Epsilon is the American Criminal Justice Association. Its main objectives are
- improve criminal justice through educational activities
- foster professionalism in law enforcement personnel and agencies
- promote professional, academic, and public awareness of criminal justice issues
- encourage the establishment and expansion of higher education and professional training in criminal justice
- provide a unified voice for professionals in, and students of, criminal justice
- promote high standards of ethical conduct, professional training, and higher education within the criminal justice field
Sociology Club
This is a chance to discuss sociological issues and understand how those ideas can be applied to help understand and improve the greater Longwood community. We do a variety of social activities throughout the year including booths at Oktoberfest and Spring Weekend and dinner together where we discuss sociological ideas.
