Dr. Ryan Stouffer is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Longwood University. He is also the Studio Supervisor for the French Hall Broadcast facilities in the communication department. In addition, he is the official storyteller for Hull Springs Farm, a 662 acre property located in Westmoreland County, in the Northern Neck of Virginia. He is the founder of the Longwood Media Showcase, which is an annual student competition, where the students submit their best work of the year and compete for prizes in various categories. 

He teaches courses in both the digital media concentration as well as the major. In the digital media concentration, he teaches print and digital journalism, media production, and documentary storytelling, just to name a few. For all majors he teaches digital and social media technologies as well as communication research. Stouffer's favorite teaching moments are those when students find a passion they never knew they had before.  

His area of research is political communication and media effects. His recent research on the #MeToo movement and Twitter was recently published. 

Prior to Longwood, Stouffer spent 6 years working in the digital content sector. He designed websites, performed SEO, ran social media marketing campaigns, and did content marketing, for both small business and a non-profit. Stouffer also worked with high school students for 6 years creating documentaries. In addition to that experience, Stouffer was an associate producer on two documentaries produced in Brazil. He has produced over 30 foreign based documentaries.  

Stouffer is married to another Longwood University professor and has two children. His hobbies include cooking and gardening. In addition, Stouffer is an FAA certified drone pilot.
