For alumni who would like some “aided recall” about their days at Longwood, a gem of a resource is available through Greenwood Library.

Known as the Digital Commons, this online archive contains more than 4,000 documents accessible online, including

  • 96 copies of the Virginian, Longwood’s yearbook, from the early 1900s through the 2000s
  • 2,197 issues of The Rotunda from 1920 to 2017
  • 215 other student publications
  • More than 300 photographs

Access to the documents is free. “Before I started this job—I am also an alumna—I learned about the digital yearbooks,” said Jamie Krogh ’07, who works in Archives and Special Collections at the library. “I definitely went back and reminisced a little looking though the yearbook and The Rotunda articles from my years at Longwood.”

Go to digitalcommons.longwood.edu to see what’s available. Yearbooks can be found at digitalcommons.longwood.edu/yearbooks; issues of The Rotunda are at digital commons.longwood.edu/rotunda.

“I hope alumni will explore the collections in the Digital Commons,” said Krogh. “We are continuing to work on digitizing, so alumni should be sure to check back periodically to see what new things are added.”
