Peter Straub, one of the most-celebrated horror fiction writers in recent history, will read from his works Monday, April 8, at 8 p.m. in Longwood University’s Wygal Auditorium.
Straub is the author of 17 novels that have been translated into more than 20 foreign languages. He is probably best known for his bestselling novel Ghost Story, published in 1979 and adapted into a 1981 film, which has been called "a timeless tale of horror, an enduring classic." His most recent novel, A Dark Matter, won the 2010 Bram Stoker Award. He collaborated with longtime friend Stephen King on The Talisman and a sequel, Black House.
Straub received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Horror Writers Association in 2006 and was named a World Horror Grandmaster in 1977. Straub, who lives in New York City, also has published several books of poetry.
