WMLU 91.3 FM, the award-winning, student-run campus radio station of Longwood University, will temporarily suspend broadcasts beginning the week of May 19 as the station physically relocates to new studio facilities. This will disrupt the station’s broadcasts and WMRA’s content, which includes all National Public Radio programming.
The new studio facilities will be located in newly renovated French Hall on High Street. University and WMLU staff will restore the signal as soon as possible, however, intermittent downtime should be expected throughout the summer as the station returns to power and incorporates new technology and broadcast-related equipment.
"We appreciate the community’s understanding as we relocate to improved studio and production facilities in French Hall," said WMLU’s executive board, in a statement. "We are thankful to Longwood University for their continued investment in WMLU, and we look forward to getting back on air while better serving our loyal listener base in the heart of Virginia."
The station’s staff encourages listeners to visit WMRA.org or to download the WMRA Radio App (available for both Android and Apple devices) for NPR programming during the temporary broadcast suspension.
WMLU is a FCC-licensed, 250-watt, Class A, noncommercial educational radio station. WMRA, a network partner with WMLU for broadcasting of local and NPR programming, is aware of this downtime.
