Twisted, bloody revenge is coming to the Longwood University stage in February.

Longwood theatre and opera students have collaborated to produce the famously bloody Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

The show will be performed Feb. 12-14 and Feb. 19-21 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 15 and 22 at 3 p.m. in the mainstage theatre in the Communication Studies and Theatre Arts Center, on the corner of Franklin and Race streets. The show has several violent scenes that may not be suitable for children.

Sweeney Todd, which has been called a "delicious feast for the senses," is the tale of Benjamin Baker, a barber falsely accused of a crime and banished from London for 15 years. Upon his return, he partners with Mrs. Lovett to plot sweet yet twisted revenge on his judge. An adaptation starring Johnny Depp won several Golden Globe awards in 2007.

Tickets are $10 for general admission; $8 for faculty/staff, senior citizens and non-Longwood students; and $6 for Longwood students. Visit the Longwood Box Office website or call (434-395-2474), for more information.
