For the second time in three years, the Longwood Board of Visitors today approved a budget with no increase in tuition rates for the upcoming academic year, keeping Longwood’s average rate change over recent years among the very lowest in Virginia.
Since 2014, Longwood’s average annual tuition increases have averaged less than three percent, one of the lowest among Virginia public universities.
The 2021-22 academic year includes substantial support for the financial needs of students, addressing a need for families impacted by Covid-19. More than $17.5 million will be given to students in financial support this academic year.
“Longwood recognizes the impact the last year has had on family budgets and we maintain our commitment to keeping college affordable,” said President W. Taylor Reveley IV. “We have examined every area of the university for savings and efficiencies with the goal in mind of keeping tuition flat again for our students. With support from the Governor and General Assembly, we’ve made real progress and will continue to work on our students’ and families behalf on college affordability.”
The Board of Visitors also approved a modest increase of the comprehensive fee, which funds auxiliary operations including health services, student activities, career services, and recreation opportunities. That fee will increase by 3.14% for the coming academic year.
