The Longwood University Camp for Environmental Exploration (LUCEE) will be held for the third consecutive year for Westmoreland County Public Schools (WCPS) rising 4th and 5th graders. This day camp offers a hands-on learning experience for elementary school students, with a goal of sparking an interest in science naturally. Longwood students lead the two-week camp activities, working side-by-side with certified WCPS teachers. Approximately 100 children are expected to attend the 2018 Camp, which received funding from the Anne Carter and Walter R. Robins, Jr. Foundation.
This year's camp will be led by rising Longwood senior Taylor Banty, of Colonial Heights, and WCPS teacher Andrea Cottom. Camp begins on July 16 and runs morning sessions for two weeks, concluding on July 26 with a presentation by campers to families and invited guests.
