Thirty students from the Call Me MISTER (CMM) program, Collaborating with Lancers for Academic Success (CLASP), and Graduate Students of Color gathered in the Moton Museum to hear Mr. James Gee Jr. share his incredible story as the first African-American attorney in Farmville, VA. Gee was a student in Prince Edward County when the schools closed for five years.
Maurice Carter, Director of the CMM program, said, “This was a discussion regarding the importance of education, the importance of community and culture, and the importance of understanding history.”
