2019 Thanksgiving Break Facts:

Tuesday, Nov. 26                   Residential Communities Close at 6:00pm
Sunday, Dec. 1                        Residential Communities Re-Open at 12noon

  • University-managed residential facilities are considered CLOSED during this break period.  The University is also officially CLOSED November 27-29. 
  • Residence hall rooms & apartments are subject to entry during break.               

 

Limited work orders and/or facility safety inspections could occur.  Special work projects will be directly communicated to impacted residents/buildings.

 

  • The Dorrill Dining Hall will have limited hours due to the university closure.  Visit https://longwood.campusdish.com/ for up-to-date hours and information for all other Longwood Dining managed food venues. 
  • The Farmville Area Bus (FAB) service will end at 6:00pm on Tuesday, Nov. 26 and will resume at 12noon on Sunday, December 1.  There is no bus service for travel to Lancer Park or Longwood Village during the break period.
  • Students should continue practicing personal safety habits during the break.  Be aware of campus and community surroundings… “If you see something say something - call Campus Police right away when you see suspicious or concerning activity.” Dial 395-2091 for general assistance from Campus Police or 911 for an emergency.
  • Residents, that plan to leave during the break period, are asked to adhere to these expectations:

 

 

Main Campus Checklist

  • Thoroughly clean your assigned living area (including your bathroom)
  • Remove all trash and perishable food from your room
  • If applicable, adjust room thermostat/fan to a low/medium setting
  • Take valuables and often forgotten items (medication, eyeglasses, checkbook, etc.)
  • Unplug all electronics & small appliances, except small refrigerators
  • Turn off all lights
  • Close and lock all windows.  Position shades at a mid-window level. (Remove valuables from view, if a ground floor window.)   
  • Lock all doors

 

Apartment Checklist

It is the resident(s) responsibility to complete this checklist and any damages that may occur over break due to negligence to fulfill these expectations will be charged to the occupants of the apartment.

  • Thoroughly clean your assigned living area (including your bathroom)
  • Dispose of all trash and perishables
  • Remove all perishable items from refrigerator
  • Close and lock ALL windows and doors
  • Adjust thermostat to 68 degrees (heating)
  • Lower blinds and twist slightly open
  • Leave porch light on (LP residents)
  • Unplug all electronics and small appliances (kitchen appliances remain plugged in)
