Longwood alumni contributed 354 pounds of canned items at the 5th Annual Alumni Charity Challenge held in September at Hardywood Brewery in Richmond, with donations going to the Central Virginia Food Bank. Since 2013, the Alumni Charity Challenge has collected more than 16 tons of canned goods with the support of more than 27 colleges and universities.
More than 335 Longwood alumni and friends turned out for Longwood night at baseball games across the state over the summer. Reuniting for Alumni Night at the Salem Red Sox were Melody Margrave ’81 (left), Chuck Cole ’81 and Cindy Robertson ’81.
Adults and children alike enjoyed a day at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk in September. Families enjoyed a picnic, private animal encounters, catered lunch and more. Nicole Perkins ’05 (left), director of alumni engagement, and Dustyn Hall ’18, alumni engagement specialist, greeted alumni and families.
Steam Bell BeerWorks in Midlothian hosted an Oktoberfest celebration for 73 Longwood alumni who sampled Lancer Ale, a specialty brew created by Steam Bell for the event. Alumni took home signature Longwood beer steins to commemorate the day.
