Barbara Dunnavant Hedgepeth ’62 attended her 45th and 50th reunions. Now she’s looking forward to her 55th, which will be part of the inaugural Joan of Arc Celebration for Gold Society members this fall.

This new signature reunion, set for Sept. 29-30, will honor alumni who have already celebrated their 50th reunions. This year’s event will highlight the classes of 1962, 1957, 1952 and 1947, though all classes from 1966 and earlier, and their friends, are welcome to celebrate Longwood.

“The new format is a great way to reconnect with classmates after their 50th reunion,” said Hedgepeth, who lives near Chapel Hill, North Carolina. “Some people feel kind of cut off after their 50th. The focus should always be on reaching out to people and keeping them connected, so this is a positive step for Longwood.”

If you didn’t receive the save-the-date mailing, let the Office of Alumni and Career Services know. Registration opens in July, and a reunion brochure with programming and event details will follow. If you are interested in helping by contacting classmates and encouraging them to attend, email reunion@longwood.edu or call 434-395-2044.

At the celebration, be sure to wear your Gold Pin (signifying membership in the Gold Society, for those who have celebrated their 50th reunions). If you have lost your pin, extra pins will be on hand at the reunion.

Activities at the Joan of Arc celebration will include tea and coffee in the Rotunda, a memorial service, campus tours and a re-creation of family-style dining in the former dining hall with baked Alaska Saturday afternoon.
