The Office of Student Research is proud to feature Davice Jones in this week’s “Scholar Story”.

Davice Jones is a sophomore at Longwood University. She is majoring in biology and has a minor in chemistry. In 2020, Davice participated in the summer PRISM research program as a freshman and her research focused on the construction of an environmental database combining water quality data and fish data that is publicly available to assess the effects of water quality on largemouth bass.  She decided to become involved in an independent research project because "after talking to Dr. Dina Leech about her ongoing projects, I knew that her laboratory would be a great place for me to go more in-depth on my interests in Ecology.”

Davice says that "participating in research through Longwood University has completely changed my outlook on my future. The positive encouragement and drive of like-minded peers have led me to have a passion for research that I would not have known without this opportunity.” Her favorite part about doing this research was “getting to know the people working within the research field. People that have such intense passions inspire me to do better in my everyday life and always give 110% in my interests.”

Congratulations to Davice on her successful research!
