Where to Give

Infinite Possibilities across Longwood

We know that choosing where to designate your gift can be time-consuming and full of thought, but we want you to know that no matter which area, program, department, scholarship, or initiative you choose to support, it's the act of giving that means the most.

Not sure where to give? By supporting the key University priorities below, your gift can have a lasting and transforming impact on Longwood's mission: to cultivate citizen leaders who are ready to contribute to the common good. Check out some of our priority support areas below.

The Longwood Fund

The Longwood Fund is one of the hardest-working resources on campus, but it doesn't brag about itself. It works quietly 24/7, 365. But it couldn't do it without you. Your support of the Longwood Fund drives our University forward. You enable us to maintain the momentum that has been building for the past 183 years. Your gift provides unrestricted, flexible funding to address the greatest needs of the University, in turn fueling the ingenuity of students and faculty. Your gift to the Longwood Fund is a demonstration of your belief in this place, in the people who call Longwood home, and in the work we all do together.

Student Scholarships

College isn't a cheap investment, but at Longwood we believe it is a necessary one. On a national level, some 63% of undergraduates at public, four-year colleges and universities do not have enough funds from family and financial aid, meaning that their access to a quality education is less and less in reach. The need for student scholarships is ever-increasing, and your valuable support makes a difference. To learn more about endowing a scholarship, click here.

Four Flourishing Programs

As Longwood meets and exceeds the needs of a 21st-century education, we have a number of major programs and areas that are flourishing—engaging more students, raising the University's national profile, and serving more communities. Below are four other priority areas that could uniquely benefit from your philanthropic support:

  1. Men's and Women's Basketball: following their conference championship wins and their first-ever visits to March Madness, our men's and women's basketball programs are poised to have huge success in the coming seasons under the leadership of Coaches Griff Aldrich (men) and Erika Lang-Montgomery (women). Gifts to either or both of the programs allow the coaching staff of each to offer their respective student-athletes with enhanced playing and practice experience, better equipment, and other student services.
  2. Cormier Honors College for Citizen Scholars: the Cormier Honors College is where cognition + compassion = community, and where hundreds of citizen scholars build upon the foundational tools and skills that Longwood gives them to make our world an ever better place to work and live. Whether students participate in CHC's Freshman Leadership Retreat, Accepted Students Scholarship Dinner, or one of the uniquely built honors courses, students graduate from the program with an elevated experience that rivals any other.
  3. Nursing program: ranking #1 in the state and #1 in the southeast region is no easy feat, but Longwood's nurses-in-training are built for excellence, and they demonstrate their knowhow, critical patient-centered thinking, and medical skills in classrooms, labs, hospitals, and facilities across the country. Supporting Longwood's top-notch nursing program means better preparing future nurses for the complex challenges they will face in the field.
  4. The Longwood Experience: talk to anyone who called Longwood home and they will tell you that our community is like no other. Our University's story includes history and traditions dating back nearly 185 years, a rich culture of compassion, a focus on student development, and a dedication to excellence in the classroom—we are unapologetically, boldly, and uniquely ourselves. We believe deeply in developing citizen leaders who will contribute to the common good. Through programs like the Brock Experiences, study abroad, service opportunities, and over 180 student-run clubs and organizations, the Longwood experience is like no other in the nation.
